This is a fairly new morph and thought to have come from Taiwan with Blue Rilis behind its breeding.  Their body is a solid, electric blue. They are simple to breed so many consider this popular, handsome shrimp to be a must have for hobbyists. Shrimp require clean water to be healthy, be sure to perform weekly water changes of about twenty five percent. Only introduce to established tanks, free of predators, ammonias and nitrites. Blue Jelly Shrimp like to have plants to move around and climb; providing these will give you a healthy shrimp. These little scavengers love algae and plant growth. If your tank doesn’t have much of this you will want to supplement with a high quality shrimp pellet or algae wafer. The biggest concern is over feeding the little guys. Many breeders will give their shrimp a day or two break every so often to allow them a chance to clean the algae away without the distractions of other food.  A good rule of thumb is to only feed what the shrimp can eat in a short time. If you think you have overfed you should perform a water change of about twenty five percent and watch your tank parameters carefully. If the right parameters are set with your tank you should have no problem breeding the Blue Jelly Shrimp. Make sure that your filter is protected with a sponge if you aren’t already using a sponge filter and provide plenty of hiding places for them. Gestation is about 25 days and the females will berry in about 50. Males are generally slender with a flat undercarriage while females have rounded bellies and the presence of a saddle where the eggs will be. Part of the pleasure in owning the Blue Jelly Shrimp is watching the groups socialize and move about the tank as they graze on algae. They are nonaggressive so can be housed with other shrimp. They will crossbreed and because of this you should be careful of what Dwarf Shrimp you house them with. Copper is toxic to all Dwarf Shrimp. You will want to make sure you don’t have any in your water and be very careful if treating your tank as most medications have copper in them.

  1. just fine 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st May 2020

Jellies arrived well packaged and in fine condition. I floated them and tried to drip acclimate them, however in the process of that, the bag slipped away, so I had to set them free. Since then I have only been able to locate 2, maybe 3 of them. It is a 40 gal, and they are small, so Im still hopefull they are all there, and just hiding. Gonna give it a little time, but overall happy with my purchase, and thinking of getting some more, and do a smoother intoduction this time.
